Journey of our Organisation:

The founder, Mr. D. Kotteswara Rao, was determined to establish a centre for dementia patients since he had personally suffered from the loss of his grandmother who had Dementia.

2010

After a lot of effort, on October 10, 2010, he and two of his friends joined and started a private firm. This is the first institution in Tamil Nadu which started to serve people with Dementia. Later we started serving for other mental health conditions like Schizophrenia, Bipolar, etc., in a Private rented building at Iyyappanthangal near Porur

2014

In 2014, Mrs. Jeeva Rao (wife of the Founder) joined hands with the organization as a co-founder of our institution. In 2014 they started a Rehabilitation Centre near Pallikaranai exclusively for women. In 2016 Aadharavu Home was registered as “Aadharavu” a Public Charitable Trust. We obtained 12AA certificate for Exemption

2018

In 2018 August, Aadharavu Trust started a Community Home at Anna Nagar, Chennai, exclusively for working women who are well functioning. This is the first of its kind in Tamilnadu. Aadharavu home initiated a new project called “Crisis Intervention and Rescue Team (CIRT)” to rescue the Wandering Mentally ill from the Streets. Due to a lot of stigma and neglect of mental illness, many hesitated to give the house for rent for the rehabilitation of the mentally ill. In search of a place that has a peaceful atmosphere such as air, and water, our founders shifted Aadharavu Home (men and women) to Periyapalayam on 1st July 2018.

2021 - Present

In 2021 Aadharavu Trust got its 80 G Tax Exemption.
